Many around the world dread this one holiday, especially if they don’t have a significant other… Valentine’s Day! This holiday is all about sending love letters, giving personal gifts and taking your other half on a date.

But don’t worry, if you don’t have a valentine to celebrate the day with you can still celebrate this love filled day.

Not all love is romantic – platonic love is just as easy to celebrate on Valentine’s Day. Plan a ‘galentines’, this is when you plan a get together with all your friends whether they’re single or not and have that quality time together. You all could cook a nice dinner, play games and even create new traditions to continue this every year!

Don’t forget to love yourself! Valentine’s day can be the perfect excuse to practice some self care. Make this day all about you and treat yourself! If that means getting new clothes on a solo shopping spree, getting a massage done, or even organizing your room/house for a clean and reset feeling, it’s all up to you! It really is an all about you day and you choose what you want. While it’s always good to treat yourself, some don’t take the time to do so, so having this free day will definitely help!

If you really don’t want to be around when this holiday is happening it’s better to skip town while you can. You could go on a solo or group trip with your friends out of town. This could be to any location whether cold, warm, city or country. You could plan expeditions to your chosen place and take lots of photos for memories. This will help to get it off your mind and who doesn’t love to take trips!

Next you could volunteer and put your love somewhere else this holiday. From food banks to animal shelters many places offer volunteering positions. Helping others on Valentine’s day would definitely make their day and spread love all around. This would not only make you feel good but give back to your community as well!

So the next time you feel lonely on Valentines day remember all the different ways to brighten your day and turn it into a heartwarming memory. And remember, this day is not only about couples but spreading love and appreciation to yourself and the people around you!
